The 2016 Carema Etichetta Nera is a big, brooding wine. Macerated cherry, licorice, game, incense and mocha all race out of the glass as the 2016 shows off its exuberant personality. There is a ton of depth, but the oak impact for me is a bit too much, which is surprising given that this wine has been less marked by wood in recent years than in the past. To be fair, though, I have had better bottles.
